When the painters are in...

Picture

Typically, the first you know something is seriously wrong with your windows is when the painters come in and start scraping down the timber ready for a coat of paint.

If you see them stretch for the magic stuff up above, then it's time to consider calling a window repair specialist first. Why?

If the damage to the timber is deep, then 2 part wood filler (so called because you mix the filler with an activator which starts the hardening process) will cause further damage within a short period of time.

This is because the filler hardens like cement and prevents the wood from expanding and contracting as it would naturally. The result is a pulverisation of the timber as this process continues.

Typically, painters will fill and skim the damaged area with the wood filler so the ongoing damage will be hidden behind this facade.

Specialist repairers use a combination of techniques to ensure repairs work in harmony with the existing timber. In particular, we use advanced resins specially designed for timber repair work such as Timbabuild resins.

These resins do not harden into a cement but remain flexibile so that the surrounding wood structures are not pulverised by the constant expansion and contraction.

So next time you have the painters in ... consider calling in the timber experts and leave the painting to the painters.
